Using and Cleaning Makeup Brushes

Right makeup brush for foundation and powders is just as important as the foundation makeup itself. New makeup brushes should be washed before using to remove any leftover residue, excess dye and loose hairs from the manufacturing process. A powder blush is the largest brush you should have in collection. This brush is used to set the finishing powder onto your face and help soften your foundation.
Various Makeup Brushes:

A foundation brush has a flat shape and long bristles.
Choosing the right brushes does not have to be a tricky process.

Eyeliner brushes to apply liquid eye shadow or to blend eye shadow around the eyes for a smoky.

Powder brush is used to dust loose powder over your face, setting your makeup and eliminating any shine.

Eye-shadow brushes are designed to give you just the right amount of color to the lid without looking like you just caked it on there.

Face Brushes
Let's start with brushes you can use to put on foundation. A favorite brush that has become very popular with the rise of mineral makeup is the kabuki. These little brushes are short in stature and packed full of bristles. They can be used to apply mineral makeup to the face. Or dip them in your favorite bronzer to get a nice summertime glow. Take note however that these brushes will apply a thick amount of powder.

Eye Brushes
Let's move onto brush you can use when apply eye makeup. A favorite brush in this category is the basic eye shadow brush. This brush looks like a mini foundation brush with its soft bristles and rounded end. These brushes are great for blending eye shadows. If you're looking for a more dramatic look, an angled eye shadow brush can help. Just like its cousin the angled foundation brush, these brushes are great for contouring.

Lip Brushes
Last but not least, don't under estimate the power of a good lip brush! These brushes can either have a smooth point which works great for applying lip liners. Or they can feature a rounded edge which works well for applying lip gloss and lip sticks. If you find yourself with a pot of lip gloss and don't like to get your fingers dirty, these brushes can save the day!

If you wear makeup, you need to know how to clean makeup brushes. If you don't clean your make up brushes, you'll either wind up spoiling them and throwing them away, or they will mess up your clean, fresh look by changing the colors of your makeup. If you're not sure how to clean makeup brushes, don't worry; it's simple. The main thing is using the right type of cleaner for the kind of cosmetic brush you have. It's also most important to clean your makeup brushes frequently, so that there's very little build up on them.

First, run all your brushes under the sink faucet in warm water.
Clean them by using a small amount of shampoo, work in a lather, then rinse. (Makeup brushes are made out of hair so shampoo would be a great choice.)
Continue to shampoo and rinse until there's no more color from the brush.
Make a mixture of vinegar and water in a bowl. 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar.
Dip the brushes in the mixture for a couple of seconds and remove. (This will disinfect the brushes.)
Lastly, place brushes on top of towel and allow them to air dry.

Knowing the different skin types, and which one you have, is the first step toward choosing a skin routine that makes you look and feel your very best.

The way your skin behaves and reacts determines the type of skin you have. Basic skin types include oily, dry, combination, normal and sensitive. The skin on your face is the best guide to classifying your skin type.

Skin is made up of many layers of epithelial tissue and it protects the internal organs and muscles. The skin is the largest organ of the integument system. There are many skin types. The skin types range from oily, combination, dry, sensitive and sun damaged. The dry skin feels tight especially after cleansing. There is a tendency toward wrinkles and developing them.

Dry skin may be a result of various reasons or by a combination of them - dry climate, winter weather, illness, exposure to sunlight, etc. The skin loses moisture and it may crack or peel. The skin may become irritated and inflamed. There may be experience of inflammation on the skin. The bathing frequently especially with soaps can lead to dry skin.

Just like our skin on our face, we have a skin type for our bodies, and this might not necessarily be the same as what we are on our face. Read the information below to help determine which body skin type you are and look for products that match these conditions described below.

Dry Skin - skin feels tight after showering and if left un-moisturized, will easily flake and crack.
Tip: if you are exposed to air-conditioning, try keeping a bowl of water near the unit or air vent to prevent your skin from drying out.

Sensitive Skin - skin feels irritated, reactions can vary from itchy breakouts to blistering, just a genuine irritated feel to the skin.
Tip: if you are wanting to try new products and are unsure how your skin will react, patch test the product on the inside of your wrist before buying and wait 24 hours to see if the skin reacts.

Normal Skin - skin feels supple and appears smooth, with an even texture to it, giving it the right balance of moisture.
Tip: before any special occasion, treat yourself to a salon treatment, like a body wrap, to give your skin that extra glow.

Oily Skin - skin is soft and supple with large, visible pores, prone to breakouts of spots and acne, in specific areas, mainly the back and chest areas.
Tip: look for the word "non-comedogenic" on the label of products you are looking for, it means it won't clog your pores.

Combination Skin - this can be a mixture of any of the above skin types, meaning that you may have to have two types of products for different areas of your body. Normally, the majority of your skin will be one type and places like your knees and elbows will be something else.
